I would reccomend getting dog boots from the company My Busy Dog, they make really high quality dog boots.
Her story abut her need for dog boots. VERY real. My dog and I had to walk over extreme shale fro a little over a mile and it wore holes, YES holes, into his back paws. I did the same thing with my socks to try and correct the situation. Was not a good solution. I have hiked with dog boots ever since.
I think people tend to overthink a lot when it comes to hiking or camping with a dog. It’s pretty straightforward to me, but it does vary a little with the dog breed and climate/season though. Nice video! 🙂
The worst thing to do is taking your shoes off while hiking, especially if you already have blisters. Suck it up, or set up camp, and then take off your shoes. This is why you should not take off your dogs shoes either, until the hike is over. If the harm is already done, there’s nothing that can undo it but healing over time. Just a quick breather will not help at all, and it will feel like hell to put the shoes back on – you will struggle with motivation etc. etc…
Super duper inspirational and informative. Thank you so so much!!
Dog boots are a lifesaver!
What breed is Luna? She looks just like my old dog. We never knew what she was.
You can fix that velcro problem with a couple dabs of E6000 glue and a small bit of industrial velcro. Just glue the patches on wherever you want it to meet and clamp it or set something heavy on it while it cures.
Very informative. Thank you!
Hello from Latvia. Thank you for video.
Then there’s my dog… I had hoped to get a dog to go hiking/camping with but alas, we cannot force others (dogs or children) to be something they are not.
you can try a long track line or maybe it is a drag line ( topeltliini or lohistage? ) for your dog, it will give you and Luna more freedom and you dont need to entagel yourself out of the line…maybe there is a youtube video that will show you how to use it 🙂
That dog backpack is not much mor hevy after swim?
Very nice and informative video!! Thanks!
Thank You. You provided very useful information
Very helpful for my dogo canario, thanks a lot.
Covering almost all tips for camping with dogs.
for all other gear
Is that retractable leash strong? Does it have a weight limit? I have a pitbull mix and he’s around 60 to 70 lbs and I was wondering if it would be strong enough for him, Nice video.
Thank you for this video!
I one day hope to have my foreign languages be as good as your English is. Wow! Great video too!
You do great stuff! We have 2 dogs. I plan to hike with Baxter, my Kelpie. He is very smart and agile.
Robert from south Texas.
Im coming to Estonia this summer. What hikes should I do??
Buy extra velcro strips and sew them on so you can use those boots you bought. Maybe that would help. Thank you for this video great ideas and help.
NEVER EVER put a Flexi leash or a loong leash on your gogs colar … if he starts running he can break his neck or hurt himself REALLY bad.
this is so helpful! I’m starting backpacking with my whippet in preparation for a trip in november, where we’ll be doing about 10 miles a day. how much would you recommend she carry in her pack? she weighs 29lbs.
So much great information here! Thank you!
I just purchased the highlander sleeping bag. I hope it fits my german shepherd. I also carry a small plastic water bottle with a drinking flowing drinking tray on it. it folds up around the bottle when done. Great video. Thank you
You are a cutey! Thanks for video!
I use a dog backpack when my dog and I go hiking or camping. He’s an Alaskan Malamute mixed with a wolf. (He’s HUGE) He weighs a lot so just putting simple things in his backpack like his dish and brush along with other lighter things is no problem for him. Although it was so hard finding things in his size. And if you where wondering yes he was illegally bred but I gained custody legally and have a permit.
Thank you for the tips – if you ever get to Phoenix, here are our favorite dog-friendly hikes
My dogs name is Luna to
beautiful work all ways ur vids
I use the flexi leash with my dog and its 😀was the best I always use it
For American Viewers: You can order groceries online and use free pickup with your dog in the car and get $10 off your first order! Here is my link: . Also use ebates to get a free $10 Walmart gift card after your first purchase and money back on things you buy anyway. I totally thought it was a scam and couldn’t believe when my card came in the mail! Here is my link for ebates: It also works for ebay, and Petco!
I like to use poopbags that are biodegradable. For exmple out of corn. This just minimizes plastic waste!
You paid way too much in the US you could probably get them for about $20 or less or you could go online and yes the velcro on those boots don’t work get the one that has zips I was told that they stay on a lot better
Would silicone boots work?
Luna is beautiful. Thank you so much for making this helpful and important vid. When you showed the clip of how you made paw boots out of your socks, for each of Luna’s paws, I cried! You and Luna make a great team. just subbed.
Great advise
2:30 That is exsactly what I do with my Husky except I’m on a bike.
A while ago, like a month ago, I unsubscribed to all the channels I have subscribed to before, decided to start fresh. Decided to think twice before subscribing to things.. A big thumbs up, you are my first channel I joined again!
I have to say your video is amazing. Thank you so much! I want to start hiking with my dogs, will start with a short 2 or 3 hour hike, we normally already do 30-40min walks. Will up that a bit for 2 weeks or so and then take them out hiking. I am really looking forward to it.
very sympathic!
You should check out the tactical dog vest/harness from OneTigris. I use that on my dog with Molle pouches and it’s great.
What do you use to keep fleas and ticks off of her?
I use Flexi leash exactly the same way! Great video!
Saw someone else mention this, but Ruffwear socks with the boots are absolutely amazing. I’ve never had the boots come off, even with my dog running and playing.
When my pup and I go out hiking, backpacking/camping, or even just to the store (is my service dog) we always carry either in my pack or his a first aid kit with cloth wraps as well as a bottle or two of the liquid band-aid which works wonders on dogs and people as it’s like Neosporin and bandaid that won’t come off all in one and it dries fast, doesn’t pull their fur out, it’s waterproof and you can remove it by putting more stuff on it to soften it up again. We never leave home without it. It comes in small hard glass bottles of a few fluid ounces and doesn’t add much weight to my pack at all. I love it! Here’s the one I use ()
I like to have a light that clips to the dog’s harness and if you want to get fancy a gps collar if they get lost. A first aid kit for the dog is also a good idea.
Hahaha you’re a good owner, cutting your socks for padding haha happy hiking !
Great video honestly I think the only thing you might be missing is dog goggles
Bravo and thank you for all these important advices!
Anna your dog is verry tender, verry nice
Thank you for the video. Not too many videos go into detail for hiking/dog supplies. Liked and subscribed!
Exelente!!!
….Ruffwear socks and boots are so wonderful…well made and Velcro is quality…super great for trails with lava rock…really love your vlogs.❣️🐾🎒🇪🇪⛺️🕶📕📷🖍🐾🎨❤️

Thank you for making this video, it was super helpful and informative ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Video 4 (which YouTube never informed me about)…Excellent and very informative (even though I don’t have a dog)! All caught up now! :-))
Hi hope ok. Love your videos and well done. Love the art work and admire your commitment. Anyways,, hope ok but Dropped your channel to Sintax77. Hes a good lad,, loves hicking and recently got a dog – Dinarly- feel you guys might chat re kit for companions. Hope ok. Well done and crack on. Dave.
One ting you cold add is a cooler cover för The dog. It’s kinda a vest that you make wet and it’s cool your dog down. When it’s dry you just wet it again.
It makes a lot of differential för my little shi tzu mix. I’ve seen that you let Lina cool herself in puddles or makes byt If you don’t have that option
Excellent video! I love the idea of the pet muzzle during public transportation! Very smart.
Greetings lady, I enjoy your channel very much, do you think you’ll ever come Hiking in Britain ?
It was nice to come back after a while, lovely idea for the whole dog hiking series 🙂
i say a treat pouch is very important too!!!😁😁😁
Good information, as usual. You always come up with very helpful tips. Cheers.
Thanks for the info. Very nice of you
just found ur channel……you are delightful!!!! I live in the mountains of North Carolina and I take my dog [Astro; 90# chocolate lab] w/ me every where….your advise on equipment is spot on……i subscribed!
Hi Maiu, really good vid, thanks. Luna’s so well trained! Love how you use rewards when you put the muzzle on her. She’s a lucky girl 🙂
in my case i dont have a dog, so its what your sheeps needs
Hello there neighbour! Greetings from Latvia! What a fantastic channel! I’m starting to get outdoors more often myself and I find you videos very helpful! Thank you for your work aaand you have another subscriber!
Luna is so cute
Love the vid! I do search and rescue with my dog and a first aid kit focused to the dog is an absolute must. Vet wrap, saline, gauze, anti-diarrhea, tweezers, scissors, electrolytes and so on and so on
Hi Hiker: Thanks for all the information. You have obviously given this a great deal of thought . Your presentation is sure appreciated, especially since I’m considering getting a dog to accompany me on canoe trips. Thanks Brian 77
The first time we did a day hike with our dog, we put the backpack on her and the dog looked at my spouse and I and you could see her thinking “You have a backpack and You have backpack and I have a backpack, cool!”. She carries water bottles, matches and her water bowls.
Very nice video. Dogs need accessories too. If you get a chance, check out our SAR Tracking video and let us know what you think. Blessings to you and Luna <3
The company that contacted Hiker in Estonia was me, i started to test some new idea and it worked. . Apart from that. Don’t forget tot use some form of tik and flea protection on the trail for the dog. Unless like me if you only go out when it is freezing 🙂
Top tips. Maiu and Luna dream team. Stay happy.
Excellent video great tips and ideas thank you.
Nice video. I don’t personally find a flexie leash very useful. If you see a rattlesnake, it would be hard to grab the dog fast enough. My dog is a genius (except she is an idiot about somethings. : ) ) I have not used booties yet but my hikes are pretty short. I think kind of requirement on any longer distance hikes.
My dog Marty sends Luna his regards 😃🐕🐾
Great video and Luna says life is so much better in dog hiking boots
You provided lots of great information and ideas.
My poodle mix refuses to wear boots, so I carry a product called Musher’s Secret. It contains, among other things, beeswax which helps keep his pads from cracking or collecting snow.
Luna wearing sexy shoes 👞!!!!😁👍👏 Luna’s, too sexy for her shoes…..too sexy for her shoes….
Instead of harness take a look at the Gentle Leader head collar.
Hello my Estonian hiking friend and Luna.
There would be so many dog pics in the comments section of your videos if us users could post ours. Enjoy your videos!
Great vid.
Again, great content!
Hi, what kind of softshell are you wearing, because I sweat allot , is it something gore tex-based on or just usual softshell and what would you prefer for hiking purposes, thanks
Really helpful thanks. I have a little Jack Russell/Chihuahua cross 🙂
my lurcher refuses to sleep in the house or tent or caravan he loves the out doors, crazy dog.
They have SuperGlue for dogs, encase they rip a pad or have minor cuts. But I use regular super glue on both the dog and I. Thumbs up
Another well thought-out video. Thanks for sharing it with us.
