I really need to work out how Zak attaches the lead to the hook thingy around the belt. Would be great if you could show us this method slowly. To have two hands available when training would be really beneficial! I can’t work it out…
How people think this training is amazing befuddles me. After weeks he still has to be a 100 yards away from other dogs and brace himself to hold her back.
I always enjoy your videos and still love the idea of positive only dog training, but I tried it with my dog for well over a year and he just didn’t respond or only responded with treats present and I could tell it made him so anxious. I tried group classes and private lessons with this approach, but nothing worked. I now have had to use a more balanced approach with the help of another trainer (third training program I’ve paid for which totals nearly 5k), but he is listening so much better and actually seems way more relaxed on walks with this most recent training. He still has a long way to go, but I’m thankful it’s slowly getting better.
Anyone know what the rope/squeaky tug toy is at 1:35 mark? Looks like something my dog might enjoy. Prior to Miora dropping the fish, was there any physical correction? It looked like there might have been, but from the distance the camera was, it’s hard to tell. It was nice to see her barking and trying to get the human food, because my dog does that every time we eat, but he’s on a whole other level than Miora. There’s NO WAY we’ll ever be able to leave a plate of chicken near him lol
Uau you did a wonderful job training Moira! And the relationship of trust between the two of you really shows 🙂
I have a question about training a dog, and would be great if anyone could share some insights: for someone who’s living in a country that not their homecountry, should we train the dog in that country’s language or in our maternal language?
Why did you put up such a high value chicken on the table to tempt her, and not something of low value that she’s easily disengaged from? Isn’t that the idea with the leave it command, implied or spoken, that you train with lower value stuff and work your way up?
Like others I’m sad this series is almost over, but happy for Moira because she’s way more likely to find a loving home now. I hope you do another series with a rescue dog or pup. This was awesome.
You’ve been helping me so much with my German Shepherd/ husky mix. Sometime this week I’m ordering her a long training leash. I’ve been more frequently hooking her leash up next to me while she’s in the house. Idk I guess I needed permission to do that or I felt like I was doing it all wrong. I also taught her “look at me,” and that’s helped a lot too. She learned it so fast.
great! I would love to see such a viedeo series with a harder to train dog. like dogs with lower will to please. Maybe livestock guard dogs or wolfdogs
Please do a series on a small/mini/toy breed of puppy that deals with separation anxiety, is overall vocal and demanding, and deals with small dog syndrome stuff!
Hey Zak! Can you address the feeling of the trainer? When im around my puppy i get really excited and happy and I absolutely know she senses that and reciprocates. Sometimes when I know she’s gonna lunge I feel nervous and she also senses that. I’m worried my emotions could negatively affect the dog and owner relationship in terms of trust and protection. (Like a scared dog and a nervous owner) So what do you have to say to that? I’m not sure I can constantly be (or pretend to be) confident.
Everything looks good but she needs more discipline. As someone who has trained many dogs to become dogs of service not service dogs. You are being too nice to her and she is taking advantage of you, she is a shepherd don’t be afraid to discipline her a bit (not too much) you won’t break her
Does anyone know what type of harness Moira has on? I believe this one in episode 10 is different than previous episodes. I’m looking for a strong and reliable harness for Moira’s doppelganger at my house!
Hey Zak I am from ETH and u did a great job working on Moira Cause I have A Female Gsd and She is so stubborn to Obey and this video makes me feel like I can train her even if she is old
Gud progress 👏, when I feed my dog double the amount and me starting to eat will not work, he needs my food, always cry for food, even after 1 sec of full meal he wants more food
I love watching these series about big dogs because I feel they’re the main ones that end up in shelters for completely fixable behaviors, but I would still like to see a series based on an older small breed dog.
Problems like, aggression, socializing, separation anxiety, and other problems associated with the “small dog syndrome”.
I really enjoy these videos – and I don’t have a dog (one day!). I don’t mind the box adverts even though they are not available in UK. What I dislike is the (albeit) short, repetitive intro every week. What purpose does it serve? Not informative; just annoying.
This series has been VERY helpful! We recently took in a high energy puppy (Blue Heeler – Australian Shepherd mix). She’s responded very well to all these training methods! Thank you so much for the videos!!
I’ve been training my headstrong German Shorthaired Pointer puppy for 7 months now. Sometimes it’s so challenging I feel like giving up and letting her rule the house, but this series helps me.
Zak, I know many people commented this already, but this is your best series YET! It’s sooooo relatable, and just what we need to watch. To see an actually great dog with some REAL issues that we, dog parents, have to deal with and do it without harsh punishment at all and still get steady, continous progress! I mean, look ar the difference from when she started training. Well done, sir. And well done, Moira, of course. Would love to see her progress in the future.
Great on everything. Except way too soft on the food. Is this social justice warrior training? Last I checked this field known as “Canine sociologiy” there is something called a pack order. And it’s not communicated by talking nicely to the pretty doggies. Assertion and confidence over the food, and with the looming understanding that if I disobey, I’ll get a thrashing, even if we as humans will not.
Some of the dogs walking in the background appeared to be off leash but none of them approached Moira. Off leash dogs are the bane of my life when walking my on leash, reactive Pomeranian. 😵.
But she can barely walk, and still fixate at dogs 50m away after 2 wks of training…She will be way too frustrating for people who are not dog trainers.
Great work Zak and Moira having owned 4 shephards ( currently on NO 5 ) I can relate a little to your task in hand, I’ve had 2 pups and 2 rescue shephards but to achieve what you have in such a small amount of time is amazing. Great content Zak best regards from the UK.
Thank you for these series. I put my dog on a headcollar to not pull and he was fantastic on a walk with it. I also used a clicker and he is responding to it well
I love this series and Moira 💕 I’m kinda sad that her series is almost over but happy that’s she’s in her forever home!! You are a great person and a trainer Zak. Thank you
@Zak George Where can I find 10ft & 50ft leads? I haven’t found them anywhere? Thanks!!!
I have been watching this series and am excited how much I have learned. Moira is doing so well, especially from where y’all started
I really need to work out how Zak attaches the lead to the hook thingy around the belt. Would be great if you could show us this method slowly. To have two hands available when training would be really beneficial! I can’t work it out…

She is doing so good!!!
Is… is that a portrait of Zac in the living room??? This is Amazing!!!
Great team work
Very helpful..how cute
Nearly had me in tears! Such amazing progress in such a short time, an awesome achievement by both Moira and Zak x
What a difference from the dog you picked up! A fantastic lesson in positive dog training! She is so beautiful!
Anyone know what the rope/squeaky tug toy is at 1:35 mark? Looks like something my dog might enjoy. Prior to Miora dropping the fish, was there any physical correction? You should foster dogs and make videos on them to get them adopted!
Amazing videos! I’ve been waiting to get a dog of my own, and it helps to be watching videos by a professional! 🐶
I’m so happy to see how Moira turns out ❤️❤️❤️, can you do one for how to train an adult GSD with bad socialization 😭😭😭. LOVE YOUR SHOW 👍
Uau you did a wonderful job training Moira! And the relationship of trust between the two of you really shows 🙂

Thank you!
I’m disappointed in who ever named her lol
Why did you put up such a high value chicken on the table to tempt her, and not something of low value that she’s easily disengaged from? Isn’t that the idea with the leave it command, implied or spoken, that you train with lower value stuff and work your way up?
Wow….great work…different dog! So good to see realistic training…gives hope!
I think she is a shepreador she is too small to be a german shepherd
I’m so glad Moira is doing so well!
Like others I’m sad this series is almost over, but happy for Moira because she’s way more likely to find a loving home now. I hope you do another series with a rescue dog or pup. This was awesome.
You’re so lucky Moira didn’t choose to roll around in that fish. I wasn’t so lucky a couple times.
Hadn’t a regular leash worked better in solving the issue of pulling than a leash that encourages pulling?
Does the water come up over the grass during high tide? How do all those dead fish get up on the grass?
I may not be first😅 But I’m definitely not last😌

All I have to say is WOW!
You are truly a master of your field.

Has Moira and Inertia played yet
Does anyone know what type of harness Moira has on? I believe this one in episode 10 is different than previous episodes. I’m looking for a strong and reliable harness for Moira’s doppelganger at my house!
Ooohh, I see a movie color stripe thing in the background! What’s the movie?
Hey Zak I am from ETH and u did a great job working on Moira Cause I have A Female Gsd and She is so stubborn to Obey and this video makes me feel like I can train her even if she is old
I’ve always wanted to adopt an adult rescue and this has been so informative! Such a great series, I hope you do more like these
Has it not been more then 2 weeks?
What content are you going to be making after this series?
I don’t think you need to explain yourself about the leash tension.. that was nothing 🤨
Gud progress 👏, when I feed my dog double the amount and me starting to eat will not work, he needs my food, always cry for food, even after 1 sec of full meal he wants more food
Love Moira, and love this series. I have watched sooo many of your videos and series, but this one is by far the most relatable! Thank you!
Love it! When I get a dog I’ve been doing so much research to be a dog trainer to help train my dog! It’s so helpful and helps with a lot of stuff!
I love watching these series about big dogs because I feel they’re the main ones that end up in shelters for completely fixable behaviors, but I would still like to see a series based on an older small breed dog.

I always look forward to these episodes with Moira 😊Good job 👍
My puppy doesn’t eat any treat I give her

Moira is an AWESOME DOG! GREAT JOB MOIRA AND ZAK! 😁
Excellent. This is been great for me students to watch your progress and what to do. Thanks again for showing it does not always go perfectly.
I’ve been training my headstrong German Shorthaired Pointer puppy for 7 months now. Sometimes it’s so challenging I feel like giving up and letting her rule the house, but this series helps me.
hi zack can you help me with my german shepard
go Moira!
What 10′ leash is he using? Any help would be appreciated.

Your the best dog trainer 😍😍😍
Aww, I have a soft spot for German Shepherds. Moira is such a good girl!
Does anybody else really want him to keep her 😭
Great on everything. Except way too soft on the food. Is this social justice warrior training? Last I checked this field known as “Canine sociologiy” there is something called a pack order. Pleas can you do a vidio when you training a caucasian shepherd. Pleas
She’s doing so well! I’m proud of both of you
Some of the dogs walking in the background appeared to be off leash but none of them approached Moira. Off leash dogs are the bane of my life when walking my on leash, reactive Pomeranian. 😵.
hiiii
Why have you left her off leash 15:00 even tho it is a controlled environment… She might play ‘keeo away’ so why didn’t you put her on a long leash
But she can barely walk, and still fixate at dogs 50m away after 2 wks of training…She will be way too frustrating for people who are not dog trainers.

Moira is a great dog
Please make a puppy haul with a list of everything you need before getting a puppy.
